Darrell Crow Studios Annual Art Contest The Darrell Crow Studios is pleased to announce the first of its Annual Art Contest. This contest is to be a fun event, whereby anyone who is a student of Darrell Crow and a member of this newsletter (registered) may enter into our first Painting Contest. Over $2,000 in prizes are being given away in two different categories as follows Prize Student Artist Grand Prize $300.00 $300.00 Second Place $200.00 $200.00 Third Place $100.00 $100.00 25 Honorable Mentions for each category shall be awarded 2 Darrell Crow DVDs of their choice. I’m not a big fan of having a lot of rules, however; we do live in a modern society whereby the establishments of rules and guidelines allows us all to level the playing field so we all can comfortably have a lot of fun. All Submissions must be received by Darrell Crow Studios no later than Sept. 30, 2007.    2. All submissions must be original work and neither a copy nor ‘inspired by another work’ (i.e. a copy of a previous artist’s work or lesson). Each submission shall have a signed statement that the work is an original work by the artist submitting the artwork.    3. All submissions must be accompanied by a fully completed application which is at the end of this announcement. You must state in your email entry the name of the painting, your name and address and email address, when you became a student of Darrell Crow, the products you own by Darrell, that you’ve painted the entry work yourself and that it is an original along with the medium you used, size of painting and surface used. As well as the ‘category of submission’. Each individual submitting an entry shall decide whether their work is student level or artist level. It is suggested that if you regularly sell your artwork or teach, that your entry be in the Artist level.    5. You may submit as many artwork in this contest as desired, however you can only select one category into which to submit your entry(ies).    6. Once you have identified your category as ‘Artist’, you will not be able to enter future contests as ‘Student.’    7. The first two submissions are without cost. All additional submissions shall have a $5.00 entry fee per submission.    8. Theme of this year’s contest is a ‘Waterfalls’ oil painting. The waterfall must contain an upper and lower falls and cascades. Other than these requirements, each Artist and Student may freely create their entry.    9. This is a Darrell Crow Studios painting contest and all submissions must be in either oil painting , water-mixable oils or acrylics. Now exceptions are permitted.   10. You entry must include a digital photo in jpg format with your application that measures no more than 300 dpi and the photo must be an 8″x10″. Your photo must be cropped for full display and of the best quality you can provide.   11. All entry materials become the property of darrell Crow Studios.   12. All entries will go on public display at www.darrellcrow.com/contest_2007 on or about October 15, 2007.   13. All entries will be displayed until December 1, 2007   14. Winners of the contest will be announced on or about December 15, 2007 and prizes distributed shortly thereafter   15. The Grandprize for each category will be judged by a panel of artists selected by the Darrell Crow Studios. Judging of the second place, third place and Honorable Mentions shall be by a popularity vote by visitors to the contest webpage. All decisions and/or tallies by vote counters and/or vote counting software and the Darrell Crow Studios and judges are final and all entries agree specifically to their decisions.   16. Vote counting rules shall be announced on October 15, 2007 when the public viewing is displayed.   17. This contest is intended to be fun and to encourage the students of Darrell Crow Studios to gain public exposure.   18. Recipients of the First, Second and Third Interview will also be invited to an interview with Darrell Crow and each will be the subject of a feature article in the Darrell Crow Studio Newsletter.
